CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: THE PROFESSIONALS EXCELLENCE AWARD:FIRST EDITION CLOSING DATE: 30TH SEPTEMBER,2024,AT 5PM.
1.0 BACKGROUND
The Association of Professional Societies in East Africa (APSEA) is a Joint Forum and an umbrella body of professional associations. Established in 1961, APSEA comprises of corporate membership of thirty - four (34) Professional Associations with over five hundred thousand (500,000) individual members from diverse professional disciplines.
APSEA was originally an East African body until 1977.The main mandate was to promote, maintain, advance and advocate for the highest professional standards and ethics in the public interest and to promote the interests of the members nationally, regionally and globally.
2.0 APSEA EXCELLENCE AWARDS
APSEA Recognition Achievement Award Scheme aims to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievements among APSEA Corporate members. This programme seeks to honour individuals and associations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication, innovation and impact in advancing professionalism in their operations. By recognizing and celebrating these achievements, APSEA aims to inspire others and foster a culture of excellence and overall impact within Professionals. This programme is an investment in the future success and sustainability of professionals in Kenya and the East Africa region.
2.1 OBJECTIVE OF THE AWARD
- Recognize Excellence: Acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals and corporate institution within APSEA.
- Inspire Innovation: Encourage innovation and best practices by highlighting successful initiatives and projects.
- Promote Collaboration: Foster a sense of Profession and collaboration by showcasing examples of effective teamwork and partnerships.
- Enhance Reputation: Elevate the reputation of APSEA by publicly acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of its members.
- Motivate Future Leaders: Inspire emerging leaders by showcasing successful role models and exemplary practices.
3.0 ELIGIBILITY
The Award is for APSEA individual members and corporate associations.
To be nominated in any of the categories the individual member or the corporate institution should meet the following conditions;
- The nominee should be a member of one of APSEA corporate association in good standing.
- The corporate association should have remitted annual subscription fee.
- The nominee should be a Kenyan
- The nominee should not be a member of APSEA Executive Committee, working committees or a Secretariat,
- The nominee should meet the provisions of Chapter 6, Constitution of Kenya,
4.0 AWARD CATEGORIES
The excellence awards are categorized into four streams as follows:
- Leadership & Excellence(Corporate Category): This criteria recognizes Corporate Associations that excel in their leadership functions, have positive professional development and impactful public interest and community outreach initiatives. Nomination and Qualification will be based on ‘good standing’ statusat APSEA. Reporting period 2021-2024
- Professionalism (Individual Category): These criteria encompass various aspects of professionalism, including ethical conduct, continuous learning, leadership, innovation, community engagement, reputation, and adherence to standards, providing a comprehensive framework for evaluating nominees in this category. The eligible nominee should exhibit excellence in professional practice, leadership & mentorship skills and he/she should be innovative and carried out impactful activities in the society. To qualify as a nominee, the individual has to be a good standing member of APSEA Corporate Body.
- Collaboration & Partnership(Corporate Category): This criteria recognizes Corporate Associations that have successful and outstanding collaborations and through partnerships that has brought innovation and value addition to members. Nomination and Qualification will be based on ‘good standing’ status at APSEA.
- Workplace Diversity and Inclusion (Corporate Category): This category recognizes corporate associations that are outstanding and committed to diversity, equity and inclusion in serving their members and society. Nomination and Qualification will be based on ‘good standing’ status at APSEA. Reporting period is 2021-2023
5.0 BENEFITS TO AWARDEES
This is a non-monetary award of exemplary service. Some of the benefits that the recipient Professional or Association and individuals shall include:
- Recognition and Prestige: Being recognized by APSEA as a respected Professional umbrella body will enhance an individual's reputation within their Profession. This recognition can lead to increased opportunities for collaboration and career advancement.
- Increased Credibility: Winning an award from APSEA as reputable Association can enhance an individual's credibility and validate their expertise in their field. This can be particularly beneficial when seeking new clients, securing funding, or applying for grants or scholarships.
- Publicity and Exposure: Association awards will have media coverage, press releases, or features on the association's website and social media platforms, providing awardees with increased visibility and exposure to a wider audience.
- Opportunities for Influence and Advocacy: Awardees may be invited to participate in advocacy efforts, advisory boards, or committees within APSEA, allowing them to contribute to shaping policies, programs and initiatives within their Profession or field.
- Plaques & Certificates: The awardees shall receive plaques with citations and certificates for the top three.
GUIDELINES OF NOMINATIONS
- An association can nominate an individual under Leadership & Excellence and Professionalism Award
- An association can be nominated under Collaboration & Partnership and Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Categories.
- An award shall be revoked if the information received by APSEA regarding the nominee is later found to have been fraudulent, incorrect or misrepresentation.
- Nominations will not be accepted after the deadline.
- Submit one nomination for each category.
